Getting more fruits and vegetables into the mouths of your family members is always a mother’s goal. And one of the best ways is to start out by placing a half gallon of irresistible, homemade juice on the table for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
To start out, you’ll need a juicer. There are many brands on the market that do a fine job. Sometimes you can find used juicers in the classified ads; many people never really give juicing a decent trial and give up on it before they start to experience benefits. This is sad since it only takes three days for most people to notice a difference in how they feel.
Here are a few recipes to get you going. These are recipes that almost everyone loves instantly from the first sip.
Apple Mint Juice
6 apples, red delicious or pink lady
1 handful fresh mint
Juice an apple, then a few sprigs of mint.
Repeat until all ingredients are used.
Refrigerate for an hour or two before serving.
*This recipe makes your kitchen smell great! The longer you let this juice sit in the refrigerator, the more minty the flavor becomes.
Carrot Apple Orange Juice
6 carrots
3 apples
2 oranges
Peel the oranges before juicing.
Core the apples before juicing them.
Cut off the stem on the carrot before juicing.
Mix all juices together.
Refrigerate a few hours before serving.
Carrot Apple Spinach Juice
6 carrots (cut off stems, wash)
4 apples, cored
4 handfuls (or one bunch) fresh spinach
Juice all ingredients above. You’ll want to juice the spinach by putting some spinach leaves into the feeder, then juicing a carrot to help push the spinach through the juicer.
Refrigerate for an hour before serving.
*All juices can be held for 24 – 48 hours in the refrigerator. If you make extra, simply freeze the leftovers in Ziploc bags.

The first time I juiced oranges I left the peel on! This is not a good idea – always take the peel off citrus fruits before juicing otherwise your juice will be extremely acidic.
Just tried an amazing super healthy smoothie! Blend together – 1 banana, 1 cup pineapple, 2 big handfuls of English spinach, 1 cm of ginger, 1/3 cucumber, 2 Tbs ground flax seeds, 1 Tbs lemon juice and 1 cup of water! I am so surprised the kids loved it! Give it a try and keep any left overs in a glass bottle for keeping.
