I think the meau in a box idea will streamline my shopping and save me countless hours pondering over what can I fix and what do I need from the store. I can’t wait to try some of the recipes and I appreciate you taking the time to compile this very helpful and concise tool. I love it when things are simple and this is so easy anyone could use this. Blessings,

Hi,

Thanks for sharing allowing me to view the ebook. I think it’s a great tool to help women plan menus and organize shopping trips. However for me personally, since I have two very young children(3 & 1), alot of these recipes would not appeal to them. One way to improve this book would be to add more kid friendly recipes as we all know how picky toddlers/preschoolers can be!

Thanks

Heather January 1, 2009 at 10:23 AM

As promised, after looking over the book here are my thoughts :)

I LOVE the lay out! I love that you have all 100 meals listed on one page and broken down by week. This makes things easier when my family wants me to make something that I made say 2 weeks prior. I also love that the shopping list is included right after each weeks recipes. This book is VERY user friendly!

What I feel is lacking are the little advanced prep notes. The little reminders to use the extra chicken we froze last week or since were cutting 1/2 an onion we should just cut the whole thing and freeze what we won’t use…those little tips…maybe you should make another book of just those things… I don’t know…I just know I LOVE your tips and tricks as well as the food.

Overall I give this book 2 thumbs up…I will be using it for years to come :)

Thank you so much!

Hope 2009 is the best year you ever had!

This will be great for planning camping menus! Wonderful way to be organized around the kitchen. Thanks!

Rebecca January 1, 2009 at 4:34 PM

This is a fantastic idea!! I will be able to use some of these now and can’t wait to be able to use them all – got to wait for the littlies to be a bit bigger and be able to eat more spicy foods. Have you thought about making it into a “database” style where we can choose the recipes for the week and it creates a shopping list? Just a thought…
Thanks so much for this brilliant idea

Evelyn January 1, 2009 at 7:20 PM

Hi,
Thank-you so much for sharing your ebook with us. Since using this I have found that we are eating a whole lot healthier and not heading to the shops so often. I’m a mother of two young boys (1 and 2) so it gets quite busy, but this meal planner makes it a whole less hectic come dinner time. Once again thanks for sharing. All the best for 2009

mub January 1, 2009 at 7:29 PM

I love the basic pantry setup list! I also like how the book is formatted and broken down week by week. The recipes look pretty varied, and I think it’s great that each week has one or two veggie menus.

In week 7, it doesn’t look like the canneloni noodles are mentioned in the recipe or on the shopping list.

Just one other thing you may consider- I an in Europe and print on size A4 paper, so I have to shrink stuff in order for it to print on one page- it appears to be set for 8.5×11 size paper.

Hi! I think this a wonderful kitchen tool. So much time can be wasted on trying to figure out what to eat next. We are pretty healthy eaters & there is a lot of choices. I love the pantry lists & shopping lists. I would be able to give the list to my childern and they can help shop. I love the new site!! It looks great. Thank you & Happy New Year.. Sharon January 2, 2009 at 12:01 AM

Hi there. Some of these ingredients in these recipes I have never heard of before. The layout seems hard to follow. I can’t print right now so I have to read it off the computer. I do like your pantry list and the freezer list. That helps alot knowing what we should have on hand. I will be trying some of the recipes. I can’t make some of thing because one member of my family can’t stand spicy foods. Thank you for all the hard work you put into putting this together.:)

Just what I need!

Sue Pate January 2, 2009 at 1:19 AM

Wow what a fantastic e-book. I know I will use a bunch over the next year (or more). Thanks for this wonderful resource!

Julie January 2, 2009 at 1:34 AM

Thanks for sharing this great resource. I am looking forward to trying some of these recipes. I can see some that will not work for my family, but I know that I can substitute others in their place. This will be a great starting point to help me streamline my meal planning!

Sam January 2, 2009 at 2:59 AM

Thank you for the opportunity to review this resource! I like the way its set up: the meals, the shopping list. I’m a little sketchy on the meal prep instructions. And I don’t know what some of the ingredients are. I am culinarily-challenged, and I have 3 boys under the age of 5. I agree with the other mom who asked about toddler-friendly foods.

I probably won’t use this resource. I may use the format. But I’m totally confused. For example, what are these “boxes” and where do they go (in the pantry? in the freezer? on the counter?) Are the boxes plastic and see-thru?

Thanks again for the opportunity to review this product. I sincerely appreciate the work you’ve put into it. :)

Maria January 2, 2009 at 4:10 AM

Thank you so much.
This is such a big help. I love to cook and can never think of anything to make what to make with too picky eaters and my dd 3rd birthday coming up.

What a lovely idea. and the pictures are lovely.

monie January 2, 2009 at 5:55 AM

thanks for this opportunity to be more organised with dinner. i am looking forward to trialing new recipes!

Cherish January 2, 2009 at 6:22 AM

Thank you for the free ebook! I like how the name of the ingredient is listed before the quantity. I do not have children yet so can’t comment on the kid-friendliness, but some of the recipes look more “exotic” than what I would make. There are a number of recipes that look scrumptious though, and my hubby will enjoy some different dinners.

Christina @ Cutest Kid Ever January 2, 2009 at 7:26 AM

I’ll need to make some adjustments for my picky family, but this looks really helpful!

sprittibee January 2, 2009 at 7:31 AM

Looking forward to browsing the menus.

Marilynn January 2, 2009 at 7:41 AM

Thank you! The book is beauty and very well laid out. I think this will save me time, especially when I’m on a writing deadline. I like that there were many recipes that were familiar but new and interesting ones too like salmon spaghetti and lamb stir fry. Looking forward to using it.

Marlo January 2, 2009 at 7:54 AM

Ruth – love the pantry checklist! You might be a perfect guest for my podcast! Focuses on improving quality of life for local families in my area – green tips, organizing, healthier food choices etc. Giving some tips with a lead in to buy your ebook might be fabulous! Email me if you are interested in learning more. Cheers and blessings. Marlo

I took a cursory look at the book. I also am a little confused about the boxes, myself. I’m already pretty organized, so this looks like a LOT more work for me than the system I have set up. The meals and other lists look very nice, with lots of variety. However, it looks like a meal plan that will add a lot to our budget and can’t do that right now. We’re on the beans and rice, rice and beans plan at this point. ;)

Very nice book, though. Lovely layout, very colorful and looks like it will be very helpful for many people…just not what I need at this point.

50s Housewife January 2, 2009 at 9:19 AM

This looks like a great resource! There are a few ingredients I’m not familiar with, but I’m sure I can find some substitutions. Great work! I look forward to trying it out.

Marsha January 2, 2009 at 9:25 AM

The recipes look great. I can’t wait to try them out. Thanks for putting all this together.

Org Junkie January 2, 2009 at 10:00 AM

Menu planning has been a lifesaver for me. I can’t stress the importance of it enough. Menu In A Box is a great resource for those who are new to menu planning and not sure where to start or simply for those who just don’t have the time and need a system where the legwork is done for you. Menu In a Box offers a complete resource providing everything you need to eliminate the stress associated with getting dinner on the table each night.

Way to go Ruthie!

Anne-Marie January 2, 2009 at 10:52 AM

Wow! Thank you for sharing this so generously. Your boxes answered some important questions I’ve been pondering about my pantry. I love the variety in the meals too.

Lisa Hetherington January 2, 2009 at 11:04 AM

Seems like a great idea!! I am looking forward t seeing the e-book.

ColleenM January 2, 2009 at 12:27 PM

This book is great for many reasons but the best thing in my opinion is that is will help me to better organize my pantry and freezer. I will start tomorrow and be on my way. Thanks for the book – it will be used a lot!

Stacy January 2, 2009 at 2:09 PM

I’m hoping this book will help us be better organized and keep our grocery budget under control while helping us to cook creatively.

Netta January 2, 2009 at 11:24 PM

Wow, I’d love to win a copy of the free book, and I’m really excited to download the 100 menus. I’m a faithful menu planner… this will be wonderful. Thanks!

skoots1mom January 2, 2009 at 11:53 PM

Things I liked:
–artwork, very colorful and well don
–text, easy to read…don’t have to wear my glasses!
–organization…makes it easy to find topics, easy to add my needs, quick reference for last minute ideas…will give your website to my girlfriends who work because they need this kind of organization to help them get done quickly…love the “ready” box idea…it will save time!
–preplanning helps cut down on extra trips, and with gas prices, we need that consolidation
and the freezer/fridge/pantry inventory is a life-saver…i want a barcode reader so i can manage my home inventory better.

–recipes…will be trying them and will let you know…many different ideas…eager to try
–love that you shared this with us for our feedback…i used to do surveys in my professional job and I know how good and bad feedback are GOLDEN! Wishing you much success!

Things I had some difficulty with:
–couldn’t get to the 5-day fridge chart, saw reference to it on the cover page, but unable to read it entirely or print

good luck and best wishes for the new year!

Lauren January 4, 2009 at 1:53 AM

I love this book.

The menus are exciting and can be easily adapted to gluten free. eg. gluten free pasta can be substituted for the regular, sauces thickened with corn starch instead of flour, etc.

I, unfortunately, have a huge problem with it. The pages are extremely well organized and function well if you have young eyes. In my case, I have bifocals and and an unusually narrow focus. I had to study the pages carefully in order to sort them out. Once I have them sorted I can return to them and figure them out more quickly.

Your whole design is too complicated for general use by older people. There are new glasses that allow people who use the computer frequently to see the whole screen much better (I have to divide it into little sections until I am familiar with the location of everything). They are about $300. and I intend to get them as soon as I can get to an eye specialist.

I know that you have put huge effort into this design and your target market may not include older people. I also know that people who enjoy reading cook books are highly motivated and can figure it out.

I will promote you on my website as soon as I get it set up in its new location. My interest is in family cooking and basic cooking skills for all family members.

I absolutely love the layout of the menu plans. The way the lists are divided and presented is wonderful. The only thing that I would love to see added would maybe be a blank template matching the rest of the planner for including a weeks worth of my own recipes – or along the same lines, the ability (such as would be with a spreadsheet format) to chose 5 recipes from the list to create a custom week. I’m not sure how workable this would really be, but it would rock if it was possible. If everyone who had MIAB contributed a week of their own menus formatted the same way just think how quickly 20 weeks could turn into a year. Thanks for making such a wonderful product. ps- the website is quite lovely

Jill January 8, 2009 at 9:11 AM

I downloaded the e-book last week, and this is my first week trying the recipes. I absolutely love it for a number of reasons. First, it takes the guess work out of figuring out what to cook for dinner. Second, the ingredients are inexpensive. I spent less on my grocery bill this week than I have in months. The meals are also easy to make, and most of them can be made very quickly. Finally, they’re delicious and plentiful. We have a 3-person household, and we’ve had enough leftovers for my husband and I to take to work with us for lunch the next day.

My only advice would be to tell people not to go out and purchase every single thing on the pantry and freezer list at the beginning of the book. If you’re trying to save money, look for sales on the items listed, and buy them over time. I just bought the sauces and seasonings I was out of this week and plan to slowly add to my pantry. It will definitely save money over time but could be expensive if you bought everything at once.

I’m looking forward to trying more recipes! Thanks so much!

Sunny Daydreame January 8, 2009 at 9:56 AM

I’ve just finished printing the 100 days meal planning Kit. To give a quick bit of feedback, I would like to see additional blank menu planning pages added to the e-book. I also noticed that while I was printing the pages some of them ran off the paper, even though the PDF file was formatted for 8.5 x 11 paper. Some of the printing ran outside of the printable area on my computer.

Other than that, I am looking forward to trying out your menus and your pantry organization system. I will be back after I’ve tried some of the meals, to add more feedback.

This is such an awesome idea!!! You did a fantastic job. It is so easy to read and follow. The recipes are fantastic! I love it that the recipes are all laid out and the shopping list is all ready. With a full time job and 2 busy kids. It makes it nice to know that I do not have to take the time and plan and make a list, it is already done. It is so simple! I love it!
Thank you!

Heather B January 15, 2009 at 3:52 AM

Thank you so much for making my life that much easier! being a newly single mother to 2 trying to go back to school and work and everything else that i do this just makes my life that much easier right now!

Denise January 20, 2009 at 2:25 PM

The 100 Day Meal Planning Kit has been a very good help to me and thank you so much for offering it. Since we’re both diabetic, I make substitutions here and there in the dishes/meals to make them lower in carbs but that isn’t difficult to do. Otherwise, the kit has made shopping and creating nutritious meals a good deal easier. My husband thanks you, too! :)
